H. E. Turnbulll, who formerly ran a general store at the corner of West Eleventh and Pine Streets, will break ground for a new two-story cement block at the corner of Peninsula and East Front Streets where he will open a large general store. The construction of the building will begin at once so as to be ready for occupancy by spring. The building will be modern in every way and will have a suite of flats on the second floor. A very pleasant day was spent last Thursday with Mrs. J. Hoagland, when the Helping Hand society gathered at her home to help her celebrate her sixty-fifth birthday.

A barn belonging to Henry Brown, who lives about six miles from Northport, was struck by lightning Saturday night and burned to the ground. One horse was struck by lightning and killed and it was impossible to get the other horse out. Besides the horses, six hogs and a mowing machine, hay and everything the barn carried were lost. A little insurance was carried on the house and barn but not enough to cover the loss. And more.
