George Shackelton of Grand Rapids, who has been in the city for the past few days in the interests of the “Men and Religion” movement, returned home today. Mr. Shackelton was employed by the Hamilton Clothing Co. about eighteen years ago and enjoyed his few days’ stay in the city with old friends and acquaintances. And more.

The dock line question which has been discussed for the past twenty years has finally been amicably settled. It was necessary to take a considerable strip of land off the property of John F. Ott and for which he has been paid $400. Papers conveying the land were made out last week and signed today. Everybody interested is now satisfied with the arrangement. And more.

The Pere Marquette railroad has installed a new system for handling fruit that comes in on the boats this summer that will save a lot of handling and expedite the shipment during the rush season. The railroad has made arrangements to use the dock at the Hannah & Lay Company which has a large apron upon which barrels and crates are placed direct from the boats.

Hon. Edwin S. Pratt died at his home, "Hillcrest", in this city last Monday. Mr. Pratt had been in failing health for two or three years but had been able to continue his office work, in some measure. Mr. Pratt was a brilliant lawyer, public spirited, a useful citizen of Traverse City and a respected pioneer. Death was due to toxemia.
