TRAVERSE CITY — Public health advisories are up at three Traverse City area beaches because of elevated E. coli levels.
Swimmers are advised not to enter the water at East Bay Park on East Grant Traverse Bay following testing this week by the Grand Traverse County Health Department. E. coli counts there exceeding 1,300 per 100ml means no body contact with the water is advised. Elevated E. coli levels over 300 per 100ml were also recorded at West End and Bryant Park beaches in Traverse City, and swimmers are advised to avoid contact with the water above the waist.
No health advisories were issued for beaches at Clinch Park near downtown Traverse City, or the Traverse City State Park on East Grand Traverse Bay.
