The National Weather Service in Gaylord reports that many areas received over a foot of snow during the winter storm Dec. 8-11, with gusty winds over 40 mph and near-blizzard conditions at times.
The heaviest snowfalls were recorded between Boyne City, Gaylord, Wolverine and Kalkaska, where several reports of more than 20 inches of snowfall were tallied.
Traverse City recorded its 10th largest three-day snowfall since 1950, with 18.2 inches. Gaylord had its second-largest three-day snowfall since 1950, with 21.8 inches. High winds were reported at Presque Isle, which logged a 66 mph wind gust Dec. 9, and at Mackinaw City, with a 62 mph gust Dec. 9.
