9:25pm: TC voters oust incumbent

TRAVERSE CITY -- Traverse City voters ousted an incumbent city commissioner, retained another and seated two new ones.

Incumbent Commissioner Deni Scrudato lost a four-candidate race for three seats, while Commissioner Jody Bergman kept her seat and newcomers Michael Gillman and MaryAnn Moore won positions. Chris Bzdok was elected mayor. He faced no opposition.

Scrudato received 1,065 votes, while Bergman received 1,729. Gillman received 1,803 votes and Moore received 1,757.

Scrudato lost by 664 votes.

The news came as a disappointing surprise, Scrudato said.

"I guess I'm kind of curious. I'd like to see the break-down," she said.
