Endorsement: Kromkowski for judge

We recommend Marian Kromkowski for Leelanau County Probate Judge. While attorney Larry J. Nelson would also make a fine probate judge, Kromkowski has years of experience as a domestic relations referee and in dispute resolution and mediation, a great preparation for the role of probate judge. Nelson, a private-practice attorney from Leland, has a low-key style and years of experience that would serve voters well. But Kromkowski brings energy, a keen interest in using mediation and dispute resolution and other new procedures, such as collaborative divorce. She has done criminal defense work, done cases at the court of appeals and has done family law. Her 17 years as a referee will serve the county well.
