MacMaster claims 105th state House seat

TRAVERSE CITY — An ex-television weatherman drenched his underfunded Democratic opponent to win the 105th state House District seat. Republican Greg MacMaster, 48, of Kewadin, will succeed term-limited state Rep. Kevin Elsenheimer to represent Antrim, Charlevoix, Otsego and most of Cheboygan counties.

MacMaster defeated Greg Dean, 46, a self-employed contractor from Elmira.

"We expected to win close to 70 percent or better, and that's how the numbers are tracking," said MacMaster, as he waited Tuesday night for final vote tallies to arrive.

"I'm getting great support because of the common-sense values I'm bringing forth and the need for a change in our government that is common-sense based," he said. "And my conservative values is what helped me win."
