TCFF public ticket sales begin Saturday

TRAVERSE CITY — Tickets for the Traverse City Film Festival go on sale to the general public Saturday, July 17.

Tickets can be purchased at the film festival box office, 300 E. Front St., just east of Crema, beginning at noon. Phone and Internet sales begin at 7 p.m.

A few movies sold out quickly when the Friends of the Film Festival tickets went on sale last week, said Bryn Lynch, box office manager.

Among the fastest sellers were "The Kids Are All Right," an opening night movie; "His and Hers," an Irish movie inspired by the filmmaker's mother; and "Viva Cuba," one of several films by Cuban filmmakers being screened at the festival, scheduled for July 27-Aug. 1.

Other hot sellers were "Restrepo," "Tiny Furniture," "Cane Toads," "Tucker and Dale," "The Concert" and "The Infidel," she said.

Lynch said 23 screenings are sold out, but several movies have more than one screening.

The film festival is using a new ticketing system this year, which Lynch thinks is "great." She said some people struggled with the online version, but only because they hadn't familiarized themselves with it ahead of time.

The list of movies, feedback and other information about the pace of sales and more is available at www.traversecityfilmfest.org.
