BATA millage rolls up big lead

SUTTONS BAY — Leelanau County voters have thrown strong support behind the Bay Area Transportation Authority’s millage renewal.

County voters favored the millage 2,506 to 852, with only a Traverse City precinct yet to report totals.

The BATA millage also leads in Grand Traverse County by a wide margin at 2,991 to 1,119.

Vote totals weren’t yet available in Traverse City.

The 0.3454 mill property tax will run through 2017. The measure would raise about $2.3 million annually to fund operations and would cost the owner of a home with a $75,000 taxable value about $26 a year.
