Film Festival outtakes
Organizers of the Traverse City Lip Dub now expect the video to be posted online Saturday, a couple days earlier than last announced. It also is being shown before a few films at the festival.

Morsels has come up with another fun batch of movie-themed treats, including "Nutty Professor," "Who's the Bos?" (Boston cream pie) and, of course, the Michael Morsel.

@GiveUpTomorrow: Just over 24 hrs later and we are back at the airport. Next stop Traverse City. Can't wait! #TCFF

There's been some confusion about the start time of the panels this week, even among film festival staff. Some film festival publications say 9 a.m., others say 9:30 a.m. Tickets have one time, and the website, depending on where you click, has both times.
Panels start at 9 a.m. at the City Opera House. They may start later, to accommodate for the confusion.

Heather Courtney, the director of "Where Soldiers Come From," got the laugh she'd been hoping for at the film's Michigan premiere. In the film, the soldiers, who are from the Houghton/Hancock area, are trying to explain their hometowns by using their hands as maps. The audience at the State Theatre giggled and nodded appreciatively. "Finally," Courtney said. "Finally someone gets it."

@EliseCK: it's been ages since I was up this early... volunteering for #tcff at the state all day! #collegestudentstruggs #sosleepy

Anyone had any Mario Batali sightings this week? Or, more excitedly, sightings of Gwyneth Paltrow and — gasp! — Chris Martin (Paltrow spouse and Coldplay lead singer)? We hear the posh couple is visiting Batali, who has a Leelanau County summer residence.
n
@traversetweet: Two-fer special: Kudos for the free #tcff panel discussions at Traverse City Opera House; the comp Good Harbor coffee was a nice surprise.
n
Charlie Chaplin, aka Harold Kranick, is back entertaining movie-goers in front of the State Theatre.
n
People in line at the State, as it snakes past Red Ginger, get a chuckle out of the movie posters in the restaurant's window: "Mrs. Wokfire," reads one. "The Empire Eats Sushi" reads another.
n
@laurariess: Saw an amazing film at #tcff today about a guru who isn't what he seems. #srikumare is awesome, including the scene with the car buffer.
n
Most downtown stores have gotten in the spirit of the film festival. Popcorn buckets, tickets and film reels abound. The Sunglass Shoppe has a picture of Steve McQueen (in shades, of course). Toy Harbor has Muppet-like puppets and "Star Wars" Legos. Becky Thatcher Designs has pictures of Elizabeth Taylor draped in jewels.

@nyindieguy: Just getting back to Twitter after a full day of moderating Q&As at #TCFF, to be greeted by all your good wishes. Thanks to all.
