MacMaster easily wins reelection

'My conservative voting record carried me well'

BELLAIRE — Republican Greg MacMaster handily defeated Democratic opponent William Wieske in the race for state representative in Michigan's 105th District.

MacMaster was first elected to the post in 2010. Unofficial results showed 8,728 votes for MacMaster to Wieske's 4,034.

"My conservative voting record carried me well," MacMaster said.

MacMaster credited his opponent with helping to make it a positive race.

"I was humbled with the effort of us being able to run a positive campaign," MacMaster said. "There were no negative attacks."

MacMaster is returning to office in a realigned district. After redistricting, Cheboygan County is no longer part of the 105th District. Montmorency and Oscoda counties have been added, joining Otsego, Charlevoix and Antrim counties.
