Lown 50th

KINGSLEY — Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Lown of Kingsley will observe their golden wedding anniversary on Dec. 31, 2012. A surprise party for family and friends was hosted by their children at the Kingsley home of their son on Nov. 17, 2012. The couple also renewed their vows. Another celebration will be hosted Jan. 12, 2013, in Gilbert, Ariz., by their daughter and son-in-law and friends.

Phillip Lown and Beverly Smith were married on Dec. 31, 1962, at the Nazarene Church in Traverse City. The Rev. Gallaup performed the ceremony.

Mr. Lown worked as an orderly at the Medical Care Facility (now the Grand Traverse Pavilions) and then at the Traverse City State Hospital until 1975. He then ran a dairy farm in Kingsley with the help of Mrs. Lown until 1986. Mr. Lown bought Professional Tool in Traverse City in 1992. He retired and sold the business in 2002. Mrs. Lown worked as a nurse's assistant at the Grand Traverse Pavilions from 1963 until she retired in 2004. The couple have lived in the Grand Traverse area 50 years and now spend three months of the year in Apache Junction, Ariz.

The Lown children are Max and Melissa Lown, and Rex Lown, all of Kingsley, and Alex and Jeremy Caron of Gilbert, Ariz. They also have five grandchildren.
