Woman accused of stealing from stepmom

TRAVERSE CITY — A woman who police believe stole jewelry and money from her stepmother faces a felony charge.

Brandi May Mikowski, 20, of Williamsburg, is charged with a single count of larceny between $1,000 and $20,000.

A woman told the Michigan State Police that someone took jewelry and money "well in excess" of $1,000 in November, court records show. Mikowski allegedly admitted to a detective that she took and pawned jewelry, and also took cash.

A preliminary examination is set for Feb. 24.
