TRAVERSE CITY —
Unique communities encourage development, said organizers of a conference set for Tuesday in Traverse City.
The Northwest Michigan Council of Governments is hosting the Placemaking Summit at the Hagerty Center to educate local leaders on a concept gaining ground in Lansing and Washington, D.C.
“Placemaking is the idea of creating unique places to attract economic development in a community,” said Matt McCauley, the group’s director of regional planning and community development. “It’s always linked to economic development. How we live, work and play can make communities attractive to young talent and entrepreneurs.”
