TRAVERSE CITY — Police arrested a Traverse City man after they said he tried to assault his wife with a machete.
Traverse City police responded Tuesday night to an assault on South Cedar Street. A woman, 27, said she was arguing with her intoxicated husband, 31, when he grabbed a machete and swung it at her. She said he also hit her with his hand, and then destroyed items in the home. Another man intervened, and the suspect fled the residence.
A city police tracking dog helped locate the man east of Division Street as he headed toward downtown. He was arrested and taken to the Grand Traverse County Jail for felonious assault.
