GAYLORD — Mary's Tavern won't serve up any pub food today after flames damaged the popular restaurant in downtown Gaylord.
Fire burned holes through the restaurant's roof and damaged its structure Wednesday night.
"We have gaping holes in the roof," said owner Kat Steinbrecher. "The roof is caved in. Our walls are starting to cave in. We don't have any power."
The former Gaylord Lumber Company building caught fire shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday, then spread to the apartments above the Venus and Blue Jeans consignment shop. Fire destroyed the former lumber company and an apartment above the consignment shop, Steinbrecher said.
Flames also melted the siding along Subway, according to a statement from Otsego County fire officials.
More than 100 authorities helped control the fire within an hour, and the fire was extinguished around midnight, officials said. The fire's cause has yet to be determined.
