County compromises on grant process

TRAVERSE CITY — Grand Traverse County Commissioners found a compromise to distribute some nonprofit grants with funds from the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians.

The board will require contracts with the nonprofits and reports on grant compliance. Several commissioners expressed misgivings about their continued involvement in the grant process Wednesday night but still voted in favor of the compromise.
