Police believe man shot, killed his brother

GRAYLING — A Crawford County man is behind bars on suspicion that he killed his brother.

Crawford County sheriff’s deputies on Sunday arrested a Frederic man, 71, because they believe shot his brother to death. He remained in the Crawford County Jail on Monday. Authorities won’t identify the suspect until he’s arraigned.

His arrest stems from a complaint fielded by deputies around 6 p.m. Sunday involving a man who suffered a gunshot wound in northeast Frederic Township, according to a sheriff’s department statement.

The suspect’s brother, 60, was taken to Mercy Hospital in Grayling, where he died. Authorities won’t identify the victim until his family members are notified.
