DNR, Ag get new bosses

LANSING — Gov. Rick Snyder has appointed new leaders of the state's Department of Natural Resources and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Snyder announced today that current agriculture department Director Keith Creagh will lead the DNR while state Department of Environmental Quality's Policy and Legislative Affairs Director Jamie Clover Adams will lead the agriculture department. The appointments take effect July 9.

In a statement, Snyder says Creagh "has a strong understanding of Michigan's conservation, economic and environmental needs." And Snyder says Clover Adams "has the experience, knowledge and skills" to ensure that food and agriculture play a prominent role in the state's economy.

The appointments come after Snyder last week announced that he'd named DNR chief Rodney Stokes to head the administration's vibrant cities initiative.
