TRAVERSE CITY — For the third time in four years, Record-Eagle.com won "Website of the Year" in a national contest sponsored by Suburban Newspapers of America.
The Record-Eagle competed in Class B of SNA's Community Website Contest, for daily newspapers with circulations up to 40,000. Winners in the "Website of the Year" category provide overall excellence including design, ease of navigation, content, reader interactivity, innovation and advertising, according to SNA.
The judge's comments noted Record-Eagle.com's use of social media, multi-media tools and community interaction.
In addition to taking the top honor, Record-Eagle.com also garnered a runner-up award for the "Best Blog Initiative" in classes A and B combined. Judges noted the blogs, located at http://blogs.record-eagle.com, are user-friendly and updated frequently.
Websites were judged by Borrell Associates, a research and consulting firm specializing in the newspaper industry.
