CADILLAC -- Traverse City West split a doubleheader with Cadillac on Tuesday, creating a tie for the Big North Conference championship.
The Titans finished 8-2 in the league as did crosstown rival Traverse City Central, which swept Gaylord.
Cadillac gave Central an opening by beating West 4-2 in the opener Tuesday. Scott Witkop and Kevin Kreta had two hits apiece for the Titans.
West came back to win the nightcap 6-3 as Josh Kloosterman scattered five hits. He struck out six. All three runs were unearned.
Matt Beem, Witkop, Brett Kenny and Luke Hessler had two hits for the Titans (13-9).

Jason Winowiecki struck out, allowing four hits, as Traverse Citry Central beat Gaylord 4-1 in the first of two Big North Conference games.
Alex Fancy led the Trojans with a hit and two RBIs.
The Trojans (15-9, 8-2) exploded in the nightcap for a 17-2 win. Chris Roop led the attack with four hits and five RBIs. Travis Myers added three hits and two RBIs. Andrew Cater had two hits. Collin Casey tossed a three-hitter.

Frankfort won its first Northwest Conference baseball championship since 1993 in unusual fashion.
The Panthers tied Mesick not once, but twice, to clinch the crown.
The two teams ended the doubleheader knotted up at 8-8 and 2-2.
Wade Luxford and Kyle Zimmerman had two hits each for the Panthers (24-1-3, 10-0-2 NWC) in the 8-8 opener. Mark Fortelka hit a two-run home run for Mesick (15-3-4, 6-2-4). Ben Brown and Jeff Harnish each had two-run singles.
In the 2-2 nightcap, Cam MacArthur, Chris Tondu and Zimmerman limited the Bulldogs to five hits, while Mesick's Cody Wagathe threw a complete-game two-hitter.

Buckley won an 8-3 Northwest Conference game in the opener against Glen Lake, but the Lakers came back for a split after a 7-6 nightcap.
The Bears (8-10, 4-6 NWC) had 15 strikeouts from Josh Ledford in the opener while Drew Corwin had three hits.
In the nightcap, the Lakers (12-12, 3-7 NWC) had two hits from Devin Weber, Brad Rosinski and Mike Salamino, who scored the winning run. Weber pitched the win. Michael Sawyer had a three-run double.
Ledford hit a solo homer in a three-hit effort while Sam Porter had two hits.

Suttons Bay scored 30 runs in sweeping a Northwest Conference twinbill from Leland, 16-6 and 14-2.
Josh Mason went 4-for-4 in the opener while Evan Glowicki, Ryan Manning, Dan Holmes and Jared Orban added two hits. Holmes homered. Orban drove in four runs and Glowicki scored four runs.
Manning and Orban led the assault in the nightcap with a pair of hits. Manning drove in two. Adam Moritz pitched a three-hitter for the Norse (15-7-1, 6-3-1).

Jacob Moilanen tossed a six-hitter as Benzie Central beat Kingsley 8-1 in the first of two Northwest Conference games.
Moilanen also starred at the plate with three hits and an RBI. Sean Coykendall and Justin Judge added two hits with Judge driving in two.
Judge picked up the win in the nightcap, a 7-5 Benzie win. Dan Nickerson earned the save.
Moilanen had three more hits while Nickerson added two, including a solo homer for the Huskies (12-11, 7-3).

Travis Schuba pitched a no-hitter, striking out 15, as Kalkaska beat St. Francis 3-0 in the nightcap of a Lake Michigan Conference doubleheader.
Grayson Myas had two hits and an RBI for the Blazers (14-8, 7-5).
St. Francis (9-7, 6-6) won the opener 5-1 behind Matt Dressler's five-hit pitching. Jake Peacock had two doubles and two RBIs to pace the Gladiators. Joel Lints and Keith Gingras also drove in runs. Tyler Perrin had two hits for Kalkaska.

East Jordan held Charlevoix to four hits in a 9-2, 14-0 Lake Michigan Conference sweep.
The Rayders (5-19) had three hits from Michael Heckendorn.

The Vikings (10-5-1, 5-4-1 LMC) won the nightcap 9-4. Jensen Aubry had two hits and four RBIs while Eric Ferrigan had two hits and three RBIs. Taylor Desenfants was the winning pitcher.
Tyler Smith had three hits on the night for the Elks (10-12, 5-7), and Eric Savage was the winner in the opener. Savage gave up just three hits and drove in a run.

Traverse City Central's JV moved to 14-5 on the year with a pair of lopsided wins at Gaylord.
The Trojans had five hits and five runs on the night from Jacob Grove while Caleb Morgan had four hits, four runs scored and seven RBIs. Nate Overmirer also added four hits and five RBIs.

Kalkaska JV 6 3
Nick Keller pitched a one-hitter, striking out eight, as the Traverse City Central freshmen beat the Kalkaska JV 14-3 in the nightcap of a doubleheader.
Keller also went 4-for-4 at the plate with three doubles. Brad Keller, Tyler Fortin and Ben Buckel contributed two hits for the Trojans (7-14).
Central won the opener 15-6 behind Brad Keller. He struck out seven. Brad Keller, Nick Keller, Fortin, Max Collins and Christian Stone all had two hits. One of Brad Keller's hits was an inside-the-park home run.
