---- — NORMAL, Ill. — Traverse City struck twice in the top of the ninth to beat Normal 3-2 on Wednesday.
Kyle Colligan singled in Jose Vargas to tie the game and Marcus Nidiffer hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Chase Burch with the winning run.
The win lowered the Beach Bums magic number to three to clinch a playoff spot. It was also the 57th win of the year for Traverse City, tying them for the most wins in franchise history, matching the mark of the 2006 squad.
Brooks Belter went 5.1 solid innings, giving up five hits and two runs while striking out six. Nick Capito picked up the win, tossing 3.2 near-perfect innings. Capito surrenders only one hit and fanned five.
The Beach Bums managed only six hits, but Vargas and Colligan each had two.
