SCHAUMBURG, Ill. —
Make that seven in a row.
Traverse City stayed hot on Saturday with a 5-3 victory at Schaumburg.
The Beach Bums (28-12) have now won seven straight.
The Boomers took a 3-1 lead in the first inning thanks to a two-run double from Nate Baumann. But, it would be the only scoring for Schaumburg on the night.
In the next inning, Traverse City took the lead back when Brian Heere blasted a three-run homer to score Sean Gusrang and Kyle Eveland for a 4-3 advantage.
The Beach Bums added an insurance run in the sixth on a Jose Vargas single. Vargas also accounted for the team's first run of the game with a solo homer.
Brooks Belter moved to 5-0 on the season by collecting the win. He threw seven innings with six hits allowed, three earned runs, three strikeouts and two walks.
Nick Capito threw the final two innings to collect the save.
Schaumburg was held to eight hits on the night while the Beach Bums had 13.
The teams play the second of their three-game series today at 2 p.m.
