TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse City Beach Bums remained a half-game behind Lake Erie for the wild card spot in the Frontier League's East Division with a 3-1 win over Windy City on Saturday at Wuerfel Park.
Lake Erie blanked Rockford 4-0.
Scott Dunn allowed just one run on three hits in six innings of work to pick up the victory for the Beach Bums, who stretched their win streak to five. Jeff Cinadr and Scott Mueller finished it off in relief,.
Traverse City scored solo runs in the second, fourth and sixth innings.
Jose Vargas, who had two hits in the game, scored on a wild pitch in the second. Jeff Flagg delivered an RBI single in the fourth. Tom Zebroski's fielder's choice accounted for the run in the sixth.
Zebroski, Flagg and Matt Brown also had two hits in the game.
Bryant Cotton suffered the loss for Windy City.
The two teams close out the three-game series tonight with David Deminsky getting the call for Traverse City and Matt Jernsted for Windy City.
The Beach Bums, 47-42, hit the road for three games at Rockford before closing out the regular season at home with Lake Erie.
