KALAMAZOO -- Traverse City only scored in one inning Wednesday night.
But that was enough as the Beach Bums defeated Kalamazoo 4-2 in a Frontier League game at Homer Stryker Field.
The win evened the series at a game apiece.
Kevin Reese allowed just two runs -- one earned -- on four hits in seven innings of work to improve to 8-6.
Down 2-0 in the sixth, the Beach Bums took advantage of some sloppy defense by the Kings to plate four runs. Brad Miller reached base on error and then advanced to third on Michael Campbell's double. That hit chased Kalamazoo starter Tommy Mejia. Miller scored when John Alonso's fly to right was dropped. He ended up on second and then came home, along with Campbell, on Andrew Franco's go-ahead single. Franco took third on Robby Alcombrack's single and then scored on Brandon McArthur fielder's choice.
Traverse City finished with 10 hits, four by Franco, matching a team record. Alcombrack added three hits. The Beach Bums have had double-digit hits in seven of their eight games on this road trip.
The start of the game was delayed an hour due to rain.
