TRAVERSE CITY -- The Traverse City Beach Bums scored four runs in their three-game Frontier League series with the Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti.
Not surprisingly, the Beach Bums lost all three.
Jeff Fischer threw shutout ball over the first seven innings Wednesday night as the Sliders beat Traverse City 2-1 at Wuerfel Park.
Brett Bostelman, who allowed two runs on six hits in seven innings, suffered the loss.
Down 2-0, the Beach Bums threatened to tie it in the eighth. Mike Epping led off with a bunt single. He advanced to second on a ground out and scored on Michael Campbell's single to left center. Brian Lapin then singled up the middle, but Campbell was thrown out after he slipped rounding second base.
The Sliders scored runs in the third and seventh innings. Garrett Maines' two-out single in the seventh brought in Jeremy Jones with the game-winning run. Jones reached on a double.
Lapin and Epping led Traverse City's eight-hit attack with two hits apiece. Epping stole his 41st base in the contest.
The Sliders won the season series 9 games to 3.
