SCHAUMBURG, Ill. —
For the first time in more than a week, Traverse City lost a game.
Schaumburg rallied for a 10-9 win over the Beach Bums on Sunday, ending the team's winning streak at seven games.
The Boomers trailed 9-7 going into the bottom of the ninth inning and facing Traverse City closer Scott Mueller. He got the first two batters out, but then hit some trouble.
A Frank Pfister home run with Sean Mahley on base tied the game before Steve McQuail scored the winning run on Chad Mozingo's RBI double.
Traverse City trailed 7-0 early on in the game but rallied for the lead. Jose Vargas got things started with a home run in the fourth inning — the fifth straight game he's homered.
Ryan Still and Kyle Eveland each had three hits for the Beach Bums.
The teams conclude their three-game series today. Jacob Clem (3-3, 2.59) takes the mound for Traverse City.
