Bums move closer to playoff berth
David Deminsky got a good night’s sleep Thursday. Deminsky was left behind when Traverse City traveled to Rockford for a three-game road trip. Manager Gregg Langbehn knew it would be Deminsky’s turn in the rotation for the important opener of a series against Lake Erie that will determine who goes to the Frontier League playoffs. The TC win forces Lake Erie to have to win the last two games of the series to overtake the Beach Bums for the league’s final playoff spot.

Traverse City heads to play a three-game series against last-place Rockford RiverHawks before returning home to close out the regular season against Lake Erie, the team it's primarily battling for the East Division's second playoff spot.
The Beach Bums trail division leader Joliet by six games with as many contests left. The Traverse City Beach Bums right-hander threw his second complete game of the season as the Bums defeated Windy City 6-2 to kick off an important three-game series with the ThunderBolts.

TRAVERSE CITY — Bryan Banes became just the sixth Frontier League pitcher this season to reach double digits in wins, throwing seven innings of five-hit ball Thursday in a 5-1 victory over Rockford.

Banes upped his record to 10-3 and lowered his earned-run average to 2.59. He gave up one run and four walks, striking out four.
Only Joliet's Jake Renshaw and Windy City's Dustin Williams have more wins. They each have 11.
Banes is also fourth in the league in ERA.
