AVON, Ohio -- Robby Alcombrack belted two home runs, but it was his single to lead off the fourth inning that eventually led to the winning run as the Traverse City Beach Bums beat Lake Erie 6-4 Monday night to salvage the final game of the three-game set with the Crushers.
With the score tied at 4, Alcombrack singled, stole second and then scored on Al Barbato's single to provide the Beach Bums with the go-ahead run. The catcher provided an insurance run two innings later with his second homer of the game.
Sean Joy (3-0) pitched four scoreless innings of relief to earn the win. Starter Brett Bostelman was touched for four runs on five hits in three innings of work.
The Beach Bums had taken a 4-1 lead in the top of the third, thanks to two home runs. Alcombrack hit a solo shot while John Alonso smacked a three-run blast over the right-field fence.
The lead was short-lived as the Crushers responded with three runs in the bottom of the third.
In addition to his game-winning RBI single, Barbato also drew four walks.
David Hurst and Jeff Williams each pitched a scoreless inning. Williams converted his ninth save of the season.
