CENTRAL LAKE -- After Central Lake opened with a strong first quarter, Forest Area bounced back with three consecutive 21-point stanzas for a 75-64 victory.
The Trojans were up 21-12 after one period and 38-33 at halftime before the Warriors took the lead in the third stanza and pulled away in the fourth.
"They came out and punched us in the mouth in the first quarter," Forest Area coach Tom Snyder said. "Then we came back and scored 21 in each of the next three quarters, which is pretty good."
Carl Snyder paced Forest Area (7-3, 4-2 Ski Valley Conference) with 20 points and six assists, Matt Park had 17 points and eight rebounds and Cullen Lane added 14 points.
For Central Lake (3-5, 2-4 Ski Valley), Ian Beal pumped in 22 points and Gus Meriwether had 17 points and six rebounds. The Trojans travel to Traverse City Christian on Monday.
BOYS HOOPS
Mancelona 66
Joburg-Lewiston 60
Dustin Allen scored 11 points as Mancelona came back in the fourth quarter to top Johannesburg-Lewiston 66-60 after not leading in the first three periods.
Allen finished with 19 points to lead the Ironmen (6-3, 5-2 SVC). Dan Johnson added 15 points, while Taylor Borst had 10 points, eight assists, six rebounds and four steals and Nick Grody grabbed eight boards.
Logan Jenkins led Joburg with 19 points, followed by John Cook (15) and Darren Dobbyn (11).
Bellaire 59
Onaway 39
Reece Koepke led Bellaire to a 59-39 Ski Valley Conference victory over Onaway.
The Eagles moved to 7-0 overall and in league play.
Koepke had 24 points while Dakotah Kintigh had 12 points and 17 rebounds.
Jan O'Bradovich led Onaway with 18 points.
Bellaire will play Wednesday at Ellsworth.

Four players reached double digits for Ellsworth in a 60-45 win over Boyne Falls.
The Lancers (6-3) had 21 points and seven rebounds from Jordan Muma, Jared Danbert had 14 points, 11 rebounds, five steals and four assists, Nate Peterson had 10 points and 12 rebounds while Robert Gruse had 10 points and four assists.
Josh Pruoll had 17 points for Boyne Falls. Jared Mathers scored 12 and Reggie Fiel had 10.
Manistee Catholic 71
Brethren 39
Manistee Catholic outrebounded Brethren 32-20 and Nick Doyle had a double-double in a 71-39 victory.
Doyle posted 23 points and 10 rebounds for the Sabers, one of four players in double figures.
Nick Kolanowski added 15 points and eight assists, Vince Modjeski had a double-double of his own with 12 points and 10 boards and Nick Niesen contributed 10 points.
Brethren was led by Eddie Lodin (nine points), David Conrad (eight) and Josh Sexton (eight).
Manistee Catholic (8-1, 5-1 West Michigan D League) hosts Walkerville on Monday.

Austin Currie powered the offense in Traverse City St. Francis' 55-45 junior varsity win over Grayling.
Currie scored 32 of 55 points for the Gladiators (5-5).
GIRLS HOOPS
McBain 61
Beal City 56
McBain held off a Beal City run for a 61-56 Highland Conference win.
The win sets up a showdown for first place in the league for the Ramblers (7-5, 6-0 HC) next Tuesday at Leroy Pine River.
McBain led 50-40 going into the fourth and extended it to 14 points before Beal City went on a 10-0 run. The Ramblers had good ball control in the closing minutes to seal the win.
Sarah Westdorp led McBain with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Macy VanderHoef also had 22 points while Annemarie Hamlet had 19 points.

Grayling JV 16
Traverse City St. Francis won a junior varsity matchup with Grayling 50-16, led by Bridget Bussell (17 points), Kenzie Feeney (13), Leah Schmerheim (10) and the defense of Lauren Buckel.
The Gladiators are 6-3.

Claire Young scored 14 points, leading Traverse City Central to a 47-40 freshman victory over Traverse City West on Wednesday.
Courtney Dye added 11 points for the Trojans (5-6).
Jill Turnquist scored 15 for West (5-5).
SKIING
Harbor girls, SF boys win
Traverse City St. Francis won the boys' meet along with the Harbor Springs girls at the Lake Michigan Conference meet at Nub's Nob.
The Glads were followed by Harbor Springs and Boyne City and Grayling in a tie for third.
Harbor's Drake Doherty won the slalom (54.13) and the giant slalom (52.60). Finishing second in the giant slalom was Tyler Hansen (53.53), Boyne City's Mike Cortwright was third (53.64), SF's Jeff Summers was fourth (54.58) and Grayling's Mike Olson was fifth (55.16).
In the slalom, Stephen Siddall from St. Francis was second (56.71), Olson was third (58.65), Hansen was fourth (58.82) and Harbor's Dan Davis was fifth (1:00.05).
In the girls' meet, Harbor Spring won while Boyne City was second and St. Francis third.
Boyne City took the top three spots in the slalom with Morgan Harding (1:03.84), Lizzy Hofweber (1:04.73) and Kaitlyn Bohnet (1:05.81). Harbor Springs' Andi Shepherd was fourth (1:06.57) and Kaia Olson was fifth (1:06.91).
Shepherd won the giant slalom (54.75) while teammate Rose Pellegram was second (55.20). Bohnet was third (56.16), Abby Hackman from Harbor Springs was fourth (56.33) and Lexi Harding from Boyne City was fifth (56.61).
BOWLING
Central rolls past West
The Traverse City Central girls bowling team (4-0, 1-0) beat the Traverse City West Green (3-1, 1-1) 19-11 in their match Wednesday night in Division 1-2.
The Trojans used a 6-4 lead after the Baker games to vault ahead in the match 14-5 after the first regular game on their way to the win. Nicole Lally (356 series) and Katie Vreeland (355) led the Trojans. West's Ashley Parent rolled a 315 series in the loss.
In Division 3-4 play, Benzie Central (3-1, 2-0) pulled into the division lead by beating Glen Lake in the overtime Baker games. Down 0-10, Glen Lake (0-4, 0-1) won 15 of the last 20 but could not hold on in the final Baker games. Ashley Stain rolled a 395 series (218 game) in the win. Bellaire (3-1, 1-0) beat the TC West Gold (2-2, 0-1) 17-13 to stay right behind the Huskies. Bellaire's Sara Leemon led both teams with a 304 series.
St. Francis (1-3, 1-1) beat the vacant team 23-0.
