The Great Northwest Bowling Conference titles will be on the line Saturday in the regular season finale.

Traverse City West and Traverse City Central, both 10-1, meet in a showdown for the girls championship. The winner receives the Gerard Schwartz Memorial Trophy.

On the boys side, West (10-1) looks to hold off Central (9-2) and Traverse City Christian (9-2). The Titans will be matched up against the Trojans in their third meeting this season. Each has won one. Christian will bowl against St. Francis (7-4). If the Sabres and Trojans win, it would set-up a three-way tie -- and the league's first ever roll-off for the Gerard Schwartz Memorial Trophy. The Sabres are ranked No. 9 in Division III. Central's Steve Tate (216 average) has the sixth highest average in the state in Division I.

Matches start at 11 a.m. at Timber Lanes.

The Blue Rockets of East Jordan won first-place and $2,600 at the 19th annual Twin Soo Championship Tournament.

Rogers City wins bowling title

Traverse City Central finished 13th and West 14th in the girls Division 1 field. Central rolled a 2882 and West a 2879.

Veliquette champ, Caldwell throws 300

Rogers City sweeps bowling regional

It was a relaxing regional for Brian Bannasch. At least compared to last year. That's when his team won the Division 3 boys regional bowling title at Timber Lanes by one pin over Mason County Eastern. The Hurons won it when Mason County Eastern's anchor failed to convert on a spare in the 10th frame.

Mom, daughter drive overnight for regional

Neither snow nor treacherous roads could keep Nikki Kauss from her appointed round Friday morning. The Ewen-Trout Creek junior -- with her mother, Kathy, behind the wheel -- spent 10 hours traveling snow-covered roads late Thursday night and early Friday morning to make it to the start of the Division 3 bowling regional at Timber Lanes.

Titans, Trojans secure bowling titles

It came down to the wire in the two divisions, but both Great Northwest Bowling Conference champions retained the Gerald Schwartz Memorial Trophy Saturday. Traverse City West's boys won their fourth straight GNBC title while TC Central's girls won the league crown for the second straight time in the regular season finale at Timber Lanes.
