League showdown looms
The dust settled after the first-ever evening meets for the Great Northwest High School Bowling Conference at Wilderness Crossings and now first place is on the line at Saturday's meet between Traverse City Central and the TC West boys.
The Titans improved to 3-0 by beating TC Prep 30-0 and the Trojans kept pace by beating Elk Rapids 27-3.
West's Tyler Monroe led both teams with a 375 series (212, 163) and the conference's average leader, Trojan Christian Vreeland, rolled a 445 (226, 219).
In the rest of the boys meet Wednesday, Glen Lake topped TC Christian to stay unbeaten (3-0, 2-0) 22-8. Caleb Abbott shot a 369 series to lead both teams. Andrew Fay had a 179 game in the loss for the Sabres (1-2, 1-2).
TC St. Francis moved to (2-1, 2-0) by beating Benzie (1-2, 1-2) 27-3. Jordan Blodgett's 377 led the Gladiators in the win and Benzie's Chris Morris had a 175 game in the loss. Bellaire (1-2, 0-1) moved past the West Gold (1-2, 0-1) team 23-7 with Cody Comben's 344 series.
