TRAVERSE CITY -- It was business as usual for Rogers City.
The Hurons won their third consecutive bowling regional Friday, claiming the nine-team Division 4 girls field at Timber Lanes.
"It's unreal," senior Taylor Bannasch said. "It's my senior year, my last one (regional). We worked really hard to get it. Our team bowled really well."
Rogers City finished with a 3320 in the six Baker games and three team singles games. Baldwin placed second and Mason County Eastern third. All three qualified for next weekend's state finals in Sterling Heights.
The Hurons started slowly, rolling a 126 in the first Baker, putting them 73 pins behind Baldwin. They still trailed by 68 pins going into team singles.
Bannasch said the Hurons gained confidence after rolling an 842 in the first team singles game to take a 108-pin lead
"After the first individual game, we just knew (we could win it)," she said.
"Our girls did well all day long," coach Brett Schalk said. "They never really had a down point, other than a few frames in a row where things weren't quite going right. But they fought through it, kept their energy and never gave up. They kept working on the things they needed to work on."
Rogers City has a new look in its lineup this season.
"We have three new girls who had never bowled before in their lives," Bannasch said. "They were more than willing to work hard to get here. They bowled a lot better than we expected them to."
Bellaire finished sixth and Glen lake ninth.
The individual finals are today.
