TRAVERSE CITY — Police believe a Traverse City man falsely reported a stabbing to cover his gambling losses.
A Traverse City man, 50, told city police this morning that two men approached him around 2:15 a.m. near the 1400 block of East Eighth Street and demanded money. He said he refused, so one man pulled a knife and stabbed him.
But police said the man later admitted he stabbed himself and reported the suspects stole his wallet because he lost $1,500 at Turtle Creek Casino. Authorities could seek a false report of a felony charge against the man, who was hospitalized at Munson Medical Center this morning.
