n Meredith Hawes, Fire and Life Safety Public Educator for the Grand Traverse Metro Fire Department, was recently named the National Fire Protection Association's Education Adviser for the Midwest Division. Hawes will be responsible for guiding and coaching state representatives and disseminating NFPA information among nine Midwestern states, including Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio and Wisconsin. She has been promoting and implementing safety programs with Metro Fire Department since 2009, and was named the Michigan Public Educator of the Year by the Michigan Fire Inspectors Society in 2010.

n Peter B. Worden has been named a managaing partner of the Garan Lucow Miller law firm in Traverse City. He is the senior member in the Real Estate and Title Insurance Group and practices business law and admiralty law. He has been chosen as one of the "Best Lawyers in America" from 2009 through the present. Worden is a member of the State Bar of Michigan; Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Antrim Bar Association; Maritime Law Association; Michigan Defense Trial Counsel; and the Incorporated Society of Irish-American Lawyers.
