Experts will share beekeeping basics

TRAVERSE CITY — A program on beekeeping basics will be offered Feb. 18 through the Grand Traverse Conservation District.

It's from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the district office at 1450 Cass Road in Traverse City.

Local beekeepers Yvonne Stephens and Heather Miller will discuss essential tools and equipment, obtaining bees and their basic care, hive locations, foraging plants and more. Later programs in the series will cover hive starting and construction, honey extraction and beeswax.

The course has a $15 fee and registration is needed by Feb. 15. For more information or to sign up, call 480-4515.
