Local food production summit is offered

TRAVERSE CITY — The Northwest Michigan Food & Farming Network will present its fourth annual "Farm Route to Prosperity Summit" on Feb. 17.

The event, which is from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Hagerty Center at 715 E. Front S. in Traverse City, will focus on increasing the amount of local food produced and available in the region. It will include updates on network programs and discussions on regional branding, local infrastructure, investment, farm policy and other topics.

It's designed for farmers, educators, neighborhood groups, local officials, gardeners, chefs, students, business people and others interested in expanding use of local food.
