n Shelley Quinn-Becker has been awarded the Traverse Area Association of Realtors 2009 Affiliate of the Year Award. She also won this award in 2008. Quinn-Becker, owner of Transnation Double D Title Agency in Traverse City, also serves on the TAAR board of directors and serves as treasurer for the Women's Council of Realtors.
n Coldwell Banker Schmidt Family of Companies was honored as the third largest Coldwell Banker affiliate for 2009 based on closed units among more than 1,200 affiliates nationwide. The family-owned realty firm operates 38 offices around the state.
n A television ad campaign for Miner's North Jewelers in downtown Traverse City received a silver Addy Award from the Advertising Club of Toledo. The award went to Fruchtman Marketing of Toledo.
n Greenlight Marketing in Traverse City won two gold Addy awards, three silvers and a Judge's Choice award at a recent Addy Awards show in Grand Rapids. Among the winning entries was a television spot produced for Goodwill Inn's Run for Shelter 5K run.

n Leon Kiley has joined Frontier Solutions Group in Traverse City as a senior SEO/SEM and Web developer.
n Nancee Sexton-Stone has joined Grand Traverse Ophthalmology Clinic's Aesthetics Team in Traverse City, specializing in skin-specific facials, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, lash tinting, waxing services, and skincare and cosmetic consultations.
n Sarah Pratt, formerly of Traverse City, recently has been promoted to account manager at Marketing Werks, Inc. in Chicago. Pratt is a 2003 graduate of Traverse City Central High School and is the daughter of Chris and Judy Pratt, of Traverse City.
n Sarah J. Sleder, of Traverse City, recently joined Bowerman, Bowden, Ford, Clulo & Luyt, P.C. as an associate. She is admitted to the State Bar of Michigan and is a member of the Grand Traverse-Leelanau-Antrim County Bar Association. Sarah graduated from Traverse City West Senior High School in 2001.
n Appia Communications, a communications and networking consultant headquartered in Traverse City, named Mike Guerrero as a regional manager for the northwest U.S.
n Chris Dandeneau was hired as a mortgage loan originator for The Bank of Northern Michigan. He will work out of the bank's Petoskey office.
Donations
n Springfield Commercial Roofing in Kingsley completed an energy-saving light retrofit project at the Kaliseum sports complex in Kalkaska that included a donation of around $4,000 in Apollo Light Pipes in the ice-rink portion of the building. Springfield owner Terry Umlor said the work eliminates the need for daytime lighting in both the ice rink and pool in the complex, and that the lighting project should pay for itself in fewer than two years. Springfield partnered with Browne Electric of Kalkaska County on the project.

n The American Cancer Society Great Lakes Division closed its northern Michigan office located at 525 W. 14th St. in Traverse City. Operations for northern Michigan will be divided between service centers based in Grand Rapids and Essexville. Services to the region continue to be available through a toll-free number at 1 (800) 227-2345.
