Three companies earn statewide mention

TRAVERSE CITY -- Three area businesses were named among the "Michigan 50 Companies to Watch" award program through the Edward Lowe Foundation and several state and federal business organizations.

Versus Technology Inc., eFulfillment Service Inc. and Appia Communications are among the Michigan companies to be recognized at the sixth annual Michigan Celebrates Small Business event. Co-sponsors of the program include the Michigan Economic Development Corp., the state Small Business Technology and Development Center, the Small Business Association of Michigan and the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Nominations for the awards program are accepted each fall. Eligible firms must be privately held commercial enterprises based in Michigan, employ between 6 and 99 workers and have annual revenue between $750,000 and $50 million. The designation is based on various factors including employee or sales growth and entrepreneurial leadership.

Versus Technology provides Real-time Locating Systems (RTLS) to hospitals and clinics to help staff identify the location of patients and equipment. eFulfillment Service provides packaging and shipping services to local companies, while Appia Communications offers managed and network communications services to companies throughout the U.S.

The companies will be honored April 29 in Lansing at the Michigan Celebrates Small Business gathering.
