Restaurant owners honored with award

TRAVERSE CITY -- Restaurant owners Greg Lobdell and Jon Carlson will be honored by the Michigan Historic Preservation Network with its 2009 Citizen Award.

The owners of 2Mission Development and Design will be recognized for their historic preservation and restoration efforts at several business properties in Michigan, including the Bowers Harbor Inn on the Old Mission Peninsula. They donated an easement covering more than 90 percent of the 11-acre site at the inn to the state preservation group, worth an estimated $4.8 million, including the exterior of the century-old inn.

Other restoration projects by 2Mission include the Bastone and Vinotecca restaurants in Royal Oak, and Grizzly Peak Brewing Co. and Blue Tractor BBQ in Ann Arbor. Other holdings include North Peak Brewing Co. in Traverse City.

The award will be presented May 15 at a ceremony and reception in Grand Rapids.
