TRAVERSE CITY -- The Grainger Foundation in Illinois awarded a $7,500 grant for technical training at Northwestern Michigan College.

The money is part of the foundation's $100,000 donation to the State of Michigan for its No Worker Left Behind initiative and will directly go to NMC students enrolled in technical programs.

The grant specifically will benefit students studying for jobs in high-demand fields, including aviation, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, renewable energy and machinery. Students may spend the money on tuition, fees, tools and classroom equipment.
