Part of snowmobile trail to be closed

CHEBOYGAN -- A short segment of an area snowmobile trail temporarily will be closed for repairs.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources will close a portion of the North Central State Trail along the west side of Mullett Lake in Cheboygan County. Repairs are needed where part of the trail bed washed out, officials said.

Repairs will involve installing large boulders and stabilizing materials to repair erosion damage and prevent further damage. The spot is about 200 yards south of the intersection of Polish Line and Mullett Lake roads.

Work was to begin Monday and the trail should be re-opened on or before Friday, officials said.

A half-mile detour was set up to allow snowmobile riders to continue to use the trail during the repair work.
