GREENSBORO, N.C. -- University of Maryland freshman forward Casey Townsend was named the national Player of the Week by College Soccer News and TopDrawerSoccer.com.
The former Traverse City West standout was also the Atlantic Coast Conference co-Player of the Week in men's soccer.
Townsend's 10 goals this season are more than any other freshman in the nation. He scored three times last week, two of which were game-winners, to help the sixth-ranked Terrapins to a pair of victories. Townsend leads the Terps with 22 points.
