KINGSLEY -- Benzie Central's girls were perfect Thursday en route to defending their Kingsley Invite cross country title.
The Huskies' boys also defended their crown, edging out Mason County Central in a battle of ranked teams.
The girls took the top six spots in the 10-team event to post an optimal score of 15 points.
Grand Traverse Academy was second with 77, followed by Kingsley (91), Mason County Central (103), Lake City (143), Leland (207) and Mesick (243).
Benzie Michael Carnegie won girls medalist honors with a time of 20:09, as teammates Taylor Nye (20:16), Theresa Warsecke (20:53), Jill Louisignau (21:36), Marika Grabowski (21:31) and Amber Peabody (21:41) were the next five runners to cross the finish line.
Benzie's Miranda Besey (22:09) eighth, GT Academy's Rowan Estinck (22:24) ninth and Kingsley's Kirstin Volkening (2:27) 10th.
Benzie's boys duked it out with Mason County Central, winning a close one 33-36.
The No. 8-ranked Spartans had the top two runners, but No. 1 Benzie placed six in the top 10.
Talon Morris led Benzie's charge with a third-place finish in 17:37, just over 20 seconds behind the Spartans' Jared Lauber and Dan Deller, who were under a second apart.
Kingsley's Rachi Sims (17:45) was fourth, Mason County Central's Jake Hernandez fifth and Benzie's Tom Smeltzer (17:49), Rick Jones (18:03), David Rhodes (18:07), Travis Clous (18:08) and Will Huddleston (18:18) rounding out the top 10.

Dominic Fantozzi scored the game's only goal with 23:05 left to play as Petoskey handed Traverse City Central its first Big North Conference loss and moved into sole possession of first.
Joe Keedy assisted on the goal and Brad Lehky recorded the shutout in net.
The Northmen (8-2, 2-0 BNC) are now the only remaining undefeated team in league play.
Central coach Rob Boynton credited midfielders Jordan deTar and Miles Beauchamp and defender Kevin Trippe with good games. The Trojans host Ludington at noon Saturday.

Traverse City West earned a 3-0 Big North Conference win over Gaylord.
Ricardo Rodriguez and John Spencer gave the Titans (5-4, 1-1 BNC) a 2-0 halftime lead. Brady Fagan assisted both goals.
Spencer scored again in the second half, this time off a Jake Trasalet assist.
Ben Casciano earned the shutout in net for TC West with five saves.

Jason Send scored his 18th and 19th goals of the season as Traverse City Christian topped Leland 4-0.
Taehoon Kim added a goal and an assist and Scottie Raetz notched a goal. Peter Mustard, Paul Bump and Send added assists.
Jon Rudolph and Quinn Lyman split the shutout.

Colton Gelinas scored the game's only goal to lift Kalkaska to a 1-0 victory over Buckley.
Travis Schuba made six saves to earn the shutout.
The Blazers (5-4-1) travel to Elk Rapids on Monday.

St. Francis moved to 4-0 in the Lake Michigan Conference with a 25-17, 25-16, 25-7 win over Kalkaska.
Lyndsay LaCourse had nine kills, a block and four aces for the Gladiators, Bailey Ray had 10 kills, Abby Clear had seven kills and three blocks, Diana Matuszak had four aces and Emily Buckel had 16 assists.
In the JV match, St. Francis won 25-14, 25-10, 15-7.

Libero Taylor Storm's perfect day helped put Charlevoix over the top in a 25-13, 25-12, 25-14 win over Boyne City.
Storm had 100 percent serving and serve reception to go along with 10 digs for the Rayders (13-8-1, 4-1 Lake Michigan).
Other top performers for Charlevoix were Jenna Way (18 assists, nine digs, seven kills), Allison Hankins (10 kills, three blocks) and Katie Mays (seven kills).

Elk Rapids earned a home Lake Michigan Conference sweep of East Jordan.

Jessie Spoor had nine aces, nine kills, three blocks and four digs in the win while Olivia Morrison had 12 assists and four digs, Sarah Otte added two aces and two blocks, Kelly VanDeusen had three kills and two digs and Sophy Chang had six digs.

Johannesburg-Lewiston picked up a 25-20, 25-20, 23-25, 25-19 Ski Valley Conference win over Mancelona.
The Ironmen (1-3 SVC) had seven kills, a block and 19 digs from Shantelle Adams, who was also perfect from the serving line. Andrea Allen also chipped in 14 digs while Kelsey Dalton had and 16 digs.

Glads split two matches
Traverse City St. Francis split a pair of matches in a tri meet at Harbor Springs.
The Gladiators topped the hosts 7-1 and fell 6-2 to Petoskey.
Winners against the Rams were Mike Elliott (6-2, 6-1), Mac Corcoran (6-0, 6-0), Alex Primeau (6-3, 6-2), Newton Calcutt/Sean Paquet (6-0, 6-0), Josh Quinlan/Alex Rushlow (6-1, 6-1), Josh Kurtz/Patrick Wilson (6-0, 6-0) and Chris Miller/Steven Siddall (6-0, 6-1). Harbor's Matt Matteson won No. 1 singles 6-4, 6-1.

TC West, Central beat Ogemaw Heights
Both Traverse City Central and West earned wins over Ogemaw Heights.
The Trojans won 112-73 while the Titans had a 137-49 victory. Both teams are now 1-2.
TC Central had firsts from Claire Wodzien in the 200 free (2:16.19) and the 500 free (6:07.72), Erin Cover in the 50 free (27.47) and 100 free (1:00.1) Nadine Tueck in the 100 backstroke (1:15.84), Talia Gerstle in the 100 breaststroke (1:24.45) and Michelle Rizor in diving (256.3).
Tueck, Gerstle, Lauren Pflughleft and Chloe Seymour won the medley relay (2:15.27), Cover, Rizor, Seymour and Wodzien took the 200 free (1:55.31) while Cover, Wodzien, Tueck and Pflughleft won the 400 free (4:15.59).
The Titans had firsts from Sarah Brunner in the 100 butterfly (1:03.81) and 100 backstroke (1:09.80), Shelby Newhouse in the 200 IM (2:27.99) and 100 breaststroke (1:12.66), Kate Reid in the 200 free (2:14.23), Megan Cepela in the 50 free (26.69), Elly Maleski in the 100 free (57.05), Paige Keith in the 500 free (6:28.29) and Kendall Cox in diving (178.55).

Matt Beem (10, 70) and Zach Schaffer (12, 6) each had two touchdowns for the Titans (2-2) while Ryan Peters (4), Joey Kniss (8), Collin Nelson (7) and Tyler Thompson (4) each scored.

Traverse City St. Francis moved to 3-1 with a 39-20 Lake Michigan Conference win over Charlevoix.
The Glads had two TD passes from Nick Clear, connecting with Seth Kellicut on a 19-yard pass and Kevin Banducci on a 15-yard score. Kyle White had 72- and 15-yard scores while Ryan McDonnell and Jimmy Brady had short scores.
Charlevoix had and 85-yard kick return from Jamael Kelly, who also scored on a 75-yard run.
