PORTAGE -- Julia Otwell came in 10th and Sam Ehle 13th Saturday as the Traverse City Central girls finished third in the Portage Invitational.
Rockford won the title with 108 points. Central, running without Katie Perkins, had 167.
Otwell was timed in 18:47 and Ehle in 18:57. Also placing for the Trojans: Maren Bahra (38th in 19:35), Maria Lyons (47th in 19:38) and Jessica Krantz (59th in 19:54).
TC West had two medalists with Marcy Marek and Hannah Rickard.
Marek finished 24th in 19:19.3, while Rickard was 31st in 19:26.9. West's other top finishers were Rachael Favela (72nd), Kaylee Vandommelen (77th) and Aria Jelinek (170th).
In the JV race, Clancey Hawke was 39th out of 330 runners in 21:38.1.
Traverse City West's boys placed 17th out of 41 Division 1 teams. Leading the Titans were Sam Kosinski (62nd in 16:55), Sebby Kucera (81st), Mayy Laylin (96th), Jonah Laursen (112th) and Hunter Swogger (134th).
TC West's JVs were seventh, led by Matt Kulka (36th in 17:47), Drew VanDrie (38th in 17:48) and Kieran Hall (personal-best 17:57 to place 53rd). Both Kulka and VanDrie will move up to varsity for the Big North Conference finals on Oct. 18.
The Central boys finished 28th. The Trojans were led by Drew Dancer (58th in 16:51), James Padden (138th in 17:33), Caleb Thompson (186th in 18:03), John Miller (187th in 18:04) and Alan Jacobson (197th in 18:14).
Division 3
Benzie girls third in D-3
Benzie Central's girls placed third out of 34 teams in the Division 3 race.
Kirstin Volkening's 40th-place finish in 20:19 earned her a medal and topped the Stags. She was followed by Samantha Krause (59th), Alexis Keena (100th), Alex McNair (109th), Katie Bembeneck (129th), Maryana Reginold (138th) and Britany Simerson (149th).
Huskies boys 3rd in D-3
Benzie Central was third in the Division 3 portion of the event, while Kingsley placed 15th in the 33-team field.
Rachi Sims led the Stags with a 17:21 to place 43rd and earn a medal. Kingsley's other top finishers were Conor Goggin (53rd), Ben Simpson (59th), Jacob Lidak (101st), Ryan French (129th) and Tim Lark (135th).
Division 4
Manton girls take crown
Manton claimed the Division 4 crown, edging out Hesperia and Saugatuck.
TC St. Francis was 12th, led by an 11th-place finish by Maddy Danz in 20:46. Sarah Arthur was also a medalist, taking 32nd place with a time of 21:37.
TCSF's other top runners were Kelly Zelinski (66th), Jessie Michelin (72nd) and Addey Meachum (99th).
Suttons Bay boys 5th
Suttons Bay's Ben Wynsma finished fifth overall in 16:25 as the Norsemen came in seventh as a team.
Also placing for Suttons Bay: Juan Reyes (24th in 17:25), Chase Palmer (48th in 18:00), Mark Jasinski (55th in 18:16) and Travis Smith (107th in 19:24).
Stefan Schofield led the Traverse City St. Francis with a 84th-place finish in 18:37. He was followed by Greg Wallace (141st), Johnathan Anderson (147th), Lance Masserant (151st) and Galen Tarrant (171st).
