BENZONIA -- Perfection was achieved for the Benzie Central girls in the Northwest Conference Tuesday.
The Huskies won their third straight league jamboree with a perfect score of 15 to claim the conference title.
In Tuesday's meet, Kingsley was second (66) followed by Suttons Bay (128), Leland (132), Frankfort (135), Mesick (151), Glen Lake (151) and Buckley (156).
Benzie had the top seven finishers from Michaela Carnegie (18:37), Taylor Nye (19:13) Amber Peabody (19:47), Theresa Warsecke (19:55), Jill Louisignau (19:55), Miraka Grabowski (20:02) and Miranda Besey (20:16). All seven earned first-team all-conference honors.
Kingsley's Kristin Volkening was eighth (20:17), Frankfort's Keeton Spencley was ninth (20:22) and Benzie's Anna Grabowski was 10th (20:35).
Spencley, Volkening and Benzie's Kelsey Noah were all-conference honorable mentions.
Grand Traverse Academy had top finishes from Sophie Schuetze (20:44) and Stephanie Horning (21:09) while Traverse City Christian's Emily Ritsema (20:06) also competed.
In the boys meet, Benzie won with 21 points, followed by Suttons Bay (61), Kingsley (62), Buckley (122), Leland (123), Frankfort (152) and Glen Lake (161). The top three teams kept the same order for the overall standings.
Ben Wynsma from Suttons Bay won the meet in 16:27 while Benzie rounded out the rest of the top 5 with Rick Jones (16:41), Tom Smeltzer (16:45) Travis Clous (17:02) and David Rhodes (17:03). Buckley's Philip Spitzer was sixth (17:07), Benzie's William Huddleston (17:14) and Talon Morris (17:16) were seventh and eighth, Kingsley's Ben Simpson (17:25) was ninth and Suttons Bay's Chase Palmer was 10th (17:32).
Wynsma, Jones, Smeltzer, Clous, Rhodes, Huddleston and Morris were first-teamers in the conference while Spitzer, Simpson and Benzie's Robert Kirby were honorable mention.
