ELLSWORTH -- Wolverine senior Jeremy Egas and Maddie Buntin of Harbor Springs were individual medalists Friday in the Division 4 cross country meet at Sports Park in Ellsworth.
Battling wet, muddy conditions that made the course slow, Egas crossed the line in 17:57 to qualify for the state meet for the fifth straight time and Buntin won the girls' title in 20:40.
The Harbor Springs' boys and girls teams both earned the regional championship trophy. In the boys' race, Harbor Springs' top seven runners finished in the top 12. Harbor Springs (30), Onaway (84) and Central Lake (89) advanced to the state meet.
Michael Sydow (18:46) and Ben Kloss (18:52) were fourth and fifth for the Rams followed by Connor Buntin (19:10, seventh), Nick Cooper (19:18, ninth), Nate Schiefer (10th, 19:20), Patrick Frank (19:21, 11th) and Michael Sutton (19:25, 12th).
