---- — • Three local students recently took part in The Pull, a tug-of-war annual tradition at Hope College: Dustin Baker, sophomore, of Maple City; Katherine Kirby, junior, of Traverse City; Emilt Raetz, freshman, of Traverse City.
• The following high school seniors have been named Rotary Club of Traverse City Students of the Month: Alex Schmitz and Jenna Troppman, both of St. Francis High School; Ellen Herschel and Danny Rothschild, both of Interlochen Arts Academy.
• The following high school seniors have been named Kiwanis Club of Traverse City Students of the Month: Matthew Kramer, St. Francis High School; Abby Woughter, Traverse City Central High School; Kevin Trippe, Traverse City Central High School; Antonio "Tony" Montalvo, Interlochen Arts Academy; Heather Kendrick, Interlochen Arts Academy; Conor Hatch, Grand Traverse Academy; Amber Welch, Grand Traverse Academy; Anna Posey, Northport Public High School; Zach Zazueta, Traverse City West High School; Stasha Yancho, Traverse City West High School.
• The following high school seniors have been named Students of the Month by the Rotary Club of Traverse City: Scott Morgan, Forest Area High Schoo/TBAISD Career-Tech Center; Brooke Schroderus, Traverse City Central High School/TBAISD Career-Tech Center.
• Julian Dormitzer, a senior at Grand Valley State University Nursing program, has been inducted into the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International. A 2006 graduate of Traverse City West Senior High School, she will graduate in May 2011 with a bachelor's degree in Nursing.
• The Traverse City Central High School Debate Team participated in the Michigan Interscholastic Forensic Association (MIFA) Novice State Debate Finals Dec. 3-4 at Dexter High School.
The team advanced to the semifinals, where they lost to eventual Novice Champion West Bloomfield.
TC Central High School Novice Debate speakers finished with an 8-3 record and placed three of the top four speakers.
