Doc about Little Traverse Bay

TRAVERSE CITY — CMU Public Television will premiere a new, original documentary about the Little Traverse Bay area on Sunday, Aug. 5.

"Into The North" will air at 8 p.m., with encore presentations to follow at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, and 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19. The "postcard from the past" tells the story of the turn-of-the-century families who traveled by train and steamship to a summer paradise with opulent hotels, resort communities with famous guests, clean air and million-dollar sunsets.

The film features landmarks such as Walloon Lake, Bay View, Roaring Brook and Harbor Point. It includes hundreds of photographs from the era, along with interviews with historians, summer and year-round residents from around the area, and a representative of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians.
