Damberg sits in at Chateau Chantal

TRAVERSE CITY -- This week's Last Sunday Jazz at Sunset will feature the Jeff Haas Trio and special guest Jim Damberg on guitar.

The performance begins at 3 p.m. at Chateau Chantal, 1.7 miles north of Mapleton on Center Road.

Cliff Eberhardt has InsideOut gig

TRAVERSE CITY -- Cliff Eberhardt will perform at InsideOut Gallery Dec. 4.

Eberhardt, a self-taught guitarist, mixes catchy melodies and clever lyrics in his sets. He cites the clubs of New York City as some of his influences, where he played alongside of Shawn Colvin, Suzanne Vega and John Gorka, just to name a few.

Doors open at 7 p.m.; the show begins at 8 p.m. General admission tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door and $15 for students. Reserved tickets are $35 and VIP tickets are $50. Tickets are available at Borders Books, Oryana, Cuppa Joe, Patisserie Amie and InsideOut, 229 Garland St.

Thursday movie a romantic comedy

ALDEN -- The Off the Wall Film Series presents "Sabah: A Love Story" Thursday.

The unrated romantic comedy takes place in Toronto when Sabah shocks her Arab family and falls in love with a non-Muslim.

Soup and bread will be served at 6 p.m; call the library at 331-4318 if you plan to eat. The movie starts at 7 p.m. There is no charge, but donations are welcome. The movie will be shown at the Helena Township Community Center, 8751 Helena Road, Alden.

Inn puts on its best holiday finery

TRAVERSE CITY -- Tour an historic home dressed up for Christmas during "The Inn at Christmastime."

The Wellington Inn, 230 Wellington St., will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 4 and 5 and 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 6, featuring displays by local florists and artisans. There will be entertainment and refreshments. Family portraits can be scheduled in advance with Windborn Photographic, 946-2940.

Tickets are $15, available at the door, and proceeds benefit the Grand Traverse Historical Societ.

Andre Villoch sets Elk Rapids gig

ELK RAPIDS -- Andre Villoch will perform at the Seed Studio Gallery Dec. 5.

Villoch has performed for years as a musician, actor and comedian. He now lives in northern Michigan and regularly sits in with New Third Coast, Andy Six and Jenny Thomas. He also is in a trio, Wonderdog.

Tickets for the 8 p.m. concert are $10 in advance, available at Seed Studio Gallerly, 108 Dexter St., Corner Druggist, Chef Charles, all in Elk Rapids, and Small Planet Free Trade in Traverse City. Tickets are $12 at the door.

Civic Ensembles have free concert

TRAVERSE CITY -- The Traverse Symphony Orchestra Civic Chamber Strings and Civic Prelude Strings will perform a free concert Tuesday.

The concert, "Winter Celebration," will be at the First Congregational Church at the intersection of Peninsula Drive and Center Road beginning at 7 p.m.

The Civic Ensembles are an educational program of the Traverse Symphony Orchestra and are open to musicians of all ages. There are currently 62 members, ages 8 to 80. New members are invited to join in January.

Madrigal feast tickets on sale

TRAVERSE CITY -- Tickets are on sale for the annual Elizabethan Madrigal Feaste.

The feast and concert will be held in the Traverse City West Senior High School Commons Banquet Hall beginning Dec. 5 and running through Dec. 13.
